Flashback to 1981. Loverboy’s “Everybody’s Working for the Weekend” hit the Billboard Hot 100 and the fight to Friday was never the same. Fast forward to 2015. You’re sashaying out of the office at 6pm on a Friday and before you know it opening your eyes to a blaring alarm clock on Monday morning.
I celebrated my 25th birthday this past weekend and the older you get, the quicker time flies. Feels like just yesterday I was a toddler refusing to wear pants and opting for dresses only. Although times have changed and I no longer think pants are only for tomboys, I’m still faced with the recurring question of the day: what do I wear?
The ease of choosing an outfit lends itself to versatile and functional coordinate sets. Coordinates, also known as “twosies,” are excellent additions to your wardrobe because they can be easily interchanged – worn together or worn separately. I found this adorable navy coordinate set at a little boutique in Downtown LA and discovered multiple ways to style both the top and bottom. The trousers are perfect to wear to work with a fitted tank tucked in and the crop top is a breezy, casual option for the weekend.
I styled this twosie with a pair of neutral peep toe heels by Aldo and matching clutch by H&M. One of my favorite pair of sunglasses by House of Harlow 1960 perfectly complemented the navy and neutral color palette. When it comes to jewelry less is more. I chose to accessorize with a simple pair of jewel dangle earrings and sterling silver rings.
Now, that my birthday weekend has come and gone, I’m going to cure my Monday blues by looking forward to the best weekend October has to offer. Bring on the H A L L O W E E N festivities.
